Hemkund & Valley of Flowers Trek

Duration: 07 Days / Max Altitude: 4329 Mts, Best Time: May - June & Aug - October, Grade: Moderate Trek

 

The high altitude Lokpal Lake, known as Hemkund (4329 mts.) lies in heavenly environs. A steep trek from Ghangharia leads one to this spot in about four to six hours. It is an important pilgrimage for both Hindus and Sikhs, as well as for people from other faiths. There is a Sikh Gurudwara and a Lakshman temple built on the bank of the lake. Encircled by seven snow clad peaks and their associated glaciers; it reflects its surroundings enchantingly on its crystal clear serene waters. The glaciers from Hathi Parvat and Saptrishi peaks feed the lake and a small stream called Himganga flows out of this lake.                

 

Day 01: Dehradun – Joshimath, Morning after breakfast, drive to reach Joshimath (1874 mt / 272Km), which is the winter abode of Lord Badrinath. Lunch en route. Evening arrive at Joshimath and check into the hotel for Dinner and Overnight.                                                                                                                                                      

Day 02: Joshimath – Tapovan – Ghangaria After breakfast drives to reach Tapovan. At Tapovan take a hot water bath and visit to temple. And Post lunch proceeds to Ghangaria and check in to hotel Evening visit to Gurudwara and back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.                                                                                                                                               

 

Day 03; Joshimath - GovindGhat - Ghangaria Trek, After breakfast drives to reach Govindghat (1828 mt / 22Km). Start trekking to reach Ghangaria (3049 mt 14 km Trek) with packed lunch. Ghangaria is also known as GOVIND DHAM, It is the base camp for visiting Hemkund Sahib and Valley of Flowers Overnight: Tent                                                                           

 

Day 04: Ghangaria - Hemkund - Ghangaria Early in the morning start trekking after breakfast with lunch pack (6 Km) to reach "HEMKUND SAHIB". One of the most revered of all Sikh Shrines, The Hemkund Sahib, the Worlds Highest Gurudwara, is situated at an altitude of 4,329 mts. In the afternoon trek down to reach Ghangariya for dinner and overnight stay. Evening is free for rest & relaxation.                                                                                                                                                                            

 

Day 05: Ghangaria - Valley of Flower – Ghangaria, Trek to the Valley of Flowers after breakfast, with lunch pack. The whole valley is dotted with varieties of exotic flowers and other flora. Return to Ghangria for dinner and overnight stay.                                                                                                                                                                                

Day 06: Ghangaia - GovindGhat – Badrinath, After breakfast 14 Km return trek to Govindghat and then drive to Badrinath. At Badrinath check into Dharamshal / FRH. Post lunch takes a holy hot bath in Surya Kund and then visit top Badrinath Temple and back to Dharamshal / FRH for dinner and over night stay.                                                                                                                 

 

Day 07: Badrinath- Dehradun. Post an early breakfast leave for on ward destination via Joshimath, Rudraprayag and Karnaprayag. Lunch en route. In the evening reach the destination. Post lunch drive till destination.
